If you have a place to live, a car to drive, food on the table and some extra for emergencies you're rich. The rest of this crap will drive you crazy.

Net worth in terms of investable funds is what really counts. A 2 million $ house is a liability.

My RMD is about $70K this year, which I donate to charity. Since our AGI consisting of dividends and SS falls under $135K, this year we'll fit into the 12% tax bracket paying ZERO federal and state income taxes. This is what I call tax efficiency!

At the seven minute and 28 second mark, he mentions the age of 63 for RMD that should be 73

Although it rarely shines a light on pre-retirement wealth, retirees can benefit from looking at conventional net worth plus NPV, because cash flow is so critical when you aren't working. The video was astute in mentioning that home value often guarantees long term care access.

My view is that folks with $2M in their IRA or 401K additionally have other savings and healthy social security payments. Probably would live off of those other income sources prior to pulling from their IRA

Knowing how IRMMA works I retired at 63 and I saved off 250K in a HYSA over time and we lived off that till I turned 65. This allowed my wife and I to qualify for ACA benefits at the highest level bc our stated income for the past two years was only $31k. We've paid $0 for Health Insurance (Kaiser) - which was better than what I had when I was working. Go figure? However, now I've got to deal with Medicare/MediGap payments at 65 which are about $400 per month. Retire early. Live off savings and manage your MAGI, travel and reap the benefits of lower Health Care cost for a time. If you can, don't take SS till 70.

BEST part of getting deployed for 2 years ... VA has me covered when it comes to health care. I love it.

Finally a YouTuber uses home equity as self insurance for nursing term health care. That's my plan.

I have by far the most money in my non-retirement accounts, mainly because I decided that it would be better for my retirement! I also have a IRA account and of course I own my own home!

Video doesn't math. It confuses brackets with medians in that bracket.

Example: if $900k is the median retirement account balance of the top 10% (of retirees? of all Americans?), then half the people in the top 10% are below that number.
