  I find it quite funny that the negative reviewers of Wuthering Heights are far more clear-sighted about the novel than the people who gushed over it as a &quot;great love story&quot;.

  not only that, but No Longer Human is supposed to be quite autobiographical. It&apos;s a reflection of how Dazai sees himself and his life. A person who has done nothing but unforgivable acts and yet is described as an angel... I just adore the last sentence of this book.

  Something very interesting joe didn’t mention is that “no longer human”’s protagonist is actually a stand in for the author himself, he put his own life experiences into it then after he finished writing it, Dazai killed himself.

  I feel like a lot of these reviews come from &quot;comfort&quot; readers who find peace and relaxation in tropey literature. Think someone who only reads procedural drama, romantasy etc.<br>Part of their positive emotional reaction to reading comes from the sense of security that a well-established arc and tropey character dynamics give you.<br>So when they come across something that challenges these variables, they understadably feel confused and overwhelmed.<br>What do you mean they don&apos;t catch the killer at the end?! What do you mean the couple ends up in a messy, vitriolic divorce?!

  To be honest: when I first read (tried to read) Wuthering Heights it WAS sold to me as this great, touching lovestory and I threw it away with the same disgust I&apos;d throw away any Toxic Alphahole dark Romance. <br>Only when I was older I realized it was &quot;false advertising&quot; and it actually WAS about &quot;Abuse doesn&apos;t make people kinder, so don&apos;t f* up your kids&quot; that I started to enjoy it. So, expectations play a huge part in this.

  Hello Joe! I doubt you&apos;ll read this, but I would like to thank you for the videos that you release. I am taking my GCSEs this year, and besides the endless amounts of revision that take up my time, I listen to your videos to enjoy myself. Although I began watching you at the start of this year, having only watched your videos spontaneously throughout the previous year, every video has given me a refreshing perspective on novels and beliefs, which has supported me in many debates so far :) I hope to continue watching your channel flourish and inspire people to think thoughtfully and, more so, deeply.   Wuthering Heights still being expected to be a love story nearly 200 years ago instead of the cautionary tale that people ain&apos;t no good.<br>Bit like those that haven&apos;t actually read Don Quixote they always quote the same basic things.
