I have a friend who regularly gets new dogs, every 7 or 8 years, to "pass the torch" to the next one. In his mind, the older dog educates the younger one, and a little bit of it remains through him.

I almost cry. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog. I lost my cat several years ago and there is no one single week I don't think of him.

Thank you for sharing your journey.

I found out about your game from this video, so even if videos don't perform, it's easy to forget the indirect marketing buzz they create

I followed your development of Farewell North, and you were an inspiration in pushing me to do social media while I'm doing game dev. So success, or failure, however you see it, just know that you are also inspiring other people to take the leap and follow their passions.

Delay a game because of a dog?! That is a reason to love this channel! I love my cats and know how hard is when they pass away, I wish all health for your family!

my two cents: i really think the best use for youtube is crude devlogging to build some audience and interest in the game; tutorials and "excursus" videos are very appreciated by me but are a full time job in itself, although many modern gamedevlogger takes this ruote i really think this is just a slow down to the game making.

8:33 "youtube video doesnt perform.... dont seem to have that magic touch" .... Hmm, you mentioned that you have a game that is almost ready to be released. Did you take dev notes about challenges that you can turn into devlogs?

Might be worth analyzing if the issue is that you have huge opportunities to capture great video content, but are letting them pass.

Anyways, this vid was pretty cool. Good luck on your next game!

Seeing the long-tail revenue from 'Farewell North' is so reassuring. Most post-mortems only show the first month! The grant funding tip is huge too, $40k is life-changing for a solo dev. I’m currently polishing a pitch deck for a local grant and I hosted the prototype build on Tiiny Host to include a playable link in the application PDF. Fingers crossed!
