When grunge hit Appetite was the only traditional hard rock album that was even being talked about. It’s hard to describe to people not old enough to have experienced it. At the time Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam etc. were the only type of rock bands even being talked about except for G&R.

I was coming up on my 14th birthday when this album came out. As a girl, I didn’t listen to this genre of music prior. All I wanted was this album for my birthday and my big brother got it for me. I wore it out. Still to this day, I hear anything from this and I am transported back. I will never forget how it made me feel. I loved it was loud, audacious, raw. So different from anything I had ever heard. And I heard a lot of music. My brother loved metal. But this was something else entirely.

I got married in 1990 and this song was the opening song to our wedding video. It’s my and my husband’s song. The opening guitar is so epic and the lyrics are still how we feel about each other, 36 years later.
