  I 100% agree with squash being #1. Close behind for me is sweet potatoes. They store easier and longer than anything else we’ve ever grown

  I just have a container garden. Tomatos. Cucumbers. Jalapenos. Lettuce. Hubby has 25 hot hot pepper plants.

  Besides my vegetable garden, I grow a ton of blackberries on my front yard fence.  But my favorite are my pecans.  We live on the Arkansas river in central Arkansas and we have about 30 ish native pecan trees.  Every fall, I invite friends to come and pick all they want, but we also pick gallons of them.  They are a good size for native pecans.  Besides eating fresh, I can them and they will last for several years.  On sunny days, I sit on my deck in the fall/winter and crack them, one at a time.  Then at night for months, I shell the nuts while watching TV.  These are the sweetest, oilest and best tasting nuts I've ever eaten.  I use them all winter in desserts and breads, also as croutons.  This winter I am going to make nut butter with them.

  Garlic is my number one. We sell $500+ worth of garlic and that pays for my garden seeds, grow lights, fencing, new trees, etc I buy each year. Plus saving back enough cloves it is “free” to grow 🎉<br><br>Also we use the scapes around the bases of trees and throughout the garden as pest control

  Hello Jill, I am so happy Anne found you and introduced you to us. I have been binge watching your videos for several days. <br>I live in Los Angeles but I do have a decent sized lot. In my garden I have tomatoes (10), &nbsp;peppers (10), cucumbers (12), &nbsp;zuccini (5) , yellow squash (5), potatoes, sweet potatoes (16), strawberries, peaches, apples, pomegranates, figs, grapes, blackberries, oranges and grapefruit. 😮😊😂<br>Absolutely love your channel and am learning so so much!!!   Love winter squash!! &nbsp;Great number one pick. &nbsp;40 years ago in southern California, we planted it in our back yard. &nbsp;now in northern California, planted more. &nbsp;Didn&apos;t realize cucurbits don&apos;t like to be transplanted but so far we have transplanted 19 different varieties of squash and they are living. &nbsp;Hubby used some root stimulator and we cut off some bigger leaves but that&apos;s ok. &nbsp;Hope they will produce squash. &nbsp;xx Karen
