My broccoli was decimated by Cabbage Whites last year, even though I netted them. This year I tried a tip given on another channel, which was spraying them with a diluted spray made from crushed garlic which has worked a treat with no nets. I watched the butterflies flit straight past! The other bonus is that some local foxes regard any nets I put out as toys to dragged as far as possible from where I want them.

What I learned over the few years I’ve been gardening, is to grow what I know will do well in my garden, and what will store well, and what we enjoy! So I concentrate on staples I can preserve such as potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, beans and tomatoes are my core crops, then a variety of experimental crops to have fun with, sometimes they work out, sometimes not, but the basics Will do every year

Too much Kale freeze, crush it frozen ( it's easier) dehydrate the crushed leaves, grind up or mortar or pestle and add a spoonful of this superfood green powder into your winter stews. Nutrient bonus.

My husband has set up a canning room in the garden with and extra fridge freezer and we two large vegetable beds, 1 small bed and a 20ft poly tunnel all productive! We’ve also a border of fruit trees. Next year we plan on growing mushrooms too. The growing has been a success and this is our first year . We have no lawn as we’ve used every inch for food production but do have a few borders for roses and lavender and wildflowers to encourage pollinators. We’ve seen a good amount off of of food bill this year so, it’s been well worth it <br>Love your show!

Plant your garden space as all you need for a meal, except protein, unless that, too, is a plant. Plant your herbs like rosemary amongst your veggies because they keep bugs away. 💚💚💚😋😋😋

Make sure you save seeds from your best tomatoes. Just scrape them out and wipe onto a paper towel to dry them. It works really well

I’m getting more intentional with the garden for next year and this morning I had Puckamuck delivered which I had bought in small bags and was excellent when I applied it to the beds but had a cubic mtr and a cubic mtr of topsoil delivered. I trialed some irrigation on two beds this year and it was great so looking at irrigation for all the beds on a solar system watering and amending is top of the list this month. Suprised the tomatoes are still going and no blight yet thank goodness !

Cut cherry tomatoes in half, flash freeze. Make up bags of frozen tomatoes, cooked diced carrots, chunks of sweet peppers and frozen kale. Add frozen veggies to fry pan with herb butter. Cook veggies 5 to 7 minutes. I make this mixture in qt bags. Quick heat and eat with main meat dish on busy evening. I'm re designing garden. I want to grow more vegetables in small containers. I have boxes and boxes of seed. Hugs from SC in USA
