I suggest adding new law changes 2026 for housing. There are other costs that Americans need to think about like the cost of having to do two set of taxes for the US and Portugal. Retirees also need to think about keeping part B medical for social security which can eat into the budget. This can be a massive headache if you need to move back to the US.

The car is my greatest question right now. I think I have considered the rest of items. Now, the car, no option is cheaper. I am very tempted to import mine since getting something similar it will be way to expensive, and of course, it will depend on the final place where we will leave. Now the issue is keeping that car parked or stored somewhere until things move.
