Another crazy stat. Emi Martinez had more saves in the WC Final than Unai Simon did for the whole tournament lol

The 2010 Spain team had a genuinely top class goal scorer, for that reason I'd give them a slight edge.

Argentina has suffered serious reputational damage that will be hard to calculate.

Argentina is going to be so mid without Messi and I think they need nothing more than to be properly humbled.

I think De La Fuente having that experience within the Unders is such an overlooked aspect on why they’re so successful.

Most international managers only get good views on their players in short spurts and they also have short tenures if they fall short.

Being in the system for that long and keeping tabs on all his players probably equates him to being a club manager atp

Fun Fact: Argentina actually set a new world record at this final and is now the first and only team in world cup history to achieve 0.00 xG (Expected goals) in regular time. While xG is a relatively new method of data collection, all
xG-data has been fully digitized and recorded retroactively, dating back all the way to 1966. So its official, no team at a world cup ever sucked as hard as argentina in the 2026 final!

It's crazy that Cabo Verde both faced both the dethroned (Argentina) and now-reigning World Champions (Spain) in the same World Cup run
