This movie was a CRUCIAL part of my childhood. I remember as a kid I used to think that the concept of her staying in that water tower all by herself was so scary, especially now in more recent years.

This movie is peak 2000s summer. It was literally my favourite movie for years.

I just love the fact that the book this movie is based on bears little resemblance to it aside from there being a mermaid named Aquamarine and the protagonists having to deal with being separated after the summer. I almost didnt realize that the movie was a loose adaptation of the book as a child.<br><br>Also, in the book, Aquamarine's tail doesn't go away, so when she goes on her date with Raymond, shes wearing a long dress and is in a wheelchair which i loved

Im orry, but the moment Claire fell in the pool in slow motion.....rent free in my head chronically and my FAVORITE scene of the whole movie. As a none swimming girly....the suspense 💀

I loved this movie as a kid thank you for covering it! That water tower scene was FRIGHTENING. Definitely some creepy and scary moments in this film. Everytime I hear “island in the sun” I think of this movie. Definitely part of the core 2000s sleep over type girly moves for me.

YESSSSS I SQUEALED SEEING THIS NOTIFICATION! I loved this movie so so so so much as a kid, I've seen it wayyyyyyyy too many times, and it's so underrated. I used to watch the movie commentary too, over and over again, I was obsessed lol. Love Sara Paxton so very much, and I LOVE her hair in this movie (or at least when they actually take care of it and make it consistent/blue) I bought myself the same crimper that makes her hair so fabulous at the Last Splash :) Speaking of fabulous hair, I love YOUR hair as well,  yesssss! You look fantastic! Another AWESOME movie breakdown! :)
