  As an Italian American born and raised in Boston. I am 68 years old. This video is spot on! Italian and Italian America culture are similar, but different! My ancestry is from the region of Campania (Naples). The Italian language is different in Italy compared to Italian American Italian. I studied and spoke Italian. It was different in Italy. The food is different in different regions of Italy, compared to Italian American cuisine. The first time I traveled Italy in 1991, I couldnt find a restaurant that served spaghetti and meatballs. The Italians in northern Italy are different in central Italy, compared to southern Italy. Unfortunately, the Italian American culture is changing due to people leaving Italian American communities. I have seen this in Little Italy in the North End of Boston and San Diego. My favorite Italian American tradition is having a big classic Italian American meal with my grandmother, mother, aunts, uncles and cousins, listening to my cousin play Italian songs on his  accordion. My favorite Italian tradition, is having fresh Italian Neopolitan pasty, later a simple Italian dinner at noon, and watching Italian Serie A soccer. Italian and Italian American culture is changing. Since I left Boston and the strong Italian community, I have become more Anglo-Saxon in mannerisms. I love both the Italian American, Italian culture and food. Its sad when I went to Italy, I wasn't considered Italian, but American only.

  As an Italian American raised in Boston…I had never heard of gravy…unless it was with turkey or roast beef…even the Italian word for gravy is salsa …

  My parents NEVER said gabagool, gravy, mani got. They only say that on the East Coast.

  I&apos;m an Italian American. I grew up with my parents my grandmother &nbsp;my mom&apos;s sister and my grandmother&apos;s brother. Plus cousins aunts and uncles. My grandmother knew English but she chose to speak Sicilian. I have been to Italy and Sicily. I know where my grandparents came from. Everything you said was spot on. I know my heritage. I&apos;m proud of what Italy has given the world<br> The art the music etc but also proud of my Sicilian heritage too.

  Indeed, as an Italian born, raised, and who has always lived in Italy, the view of the average Italian around the world, based on stereotypes typical of Italian-American culture, has always bothered me greatly.
