genuinely such an awesome video. your exploration of the overarching themes of these games made me unexpectedly really emotional, so thank you for making me sniffle a little just while watching an analysis on some video games i've never played!

The deaths in reanimal were incredible mostly because I only died like a couple times. The brutality didn't feel gratuitous when it was that rare, abrupt and realistic, and I felt like I really screwed up. That's gore. That's gore of my comfort character

I feel like the reason the schoolkids are made of porcelain is because kids are fragile, despite being and looking so mean they're still just kids, and kids by nature are fragile.

The Mother reminds me of a sea cucumber, instead of a spider. She does have 8 limbs, and can climb walls, but they are so much more agile and their bodies are so angular.

Sea cucumbers, in the other hand, are some of nature’s most simple animals. They are clumsy, look exactly like the mother’s body (like a fat and hairy caterpillar), but most importantly and related to The Mother, they have only one opening for all of their bodily functions. They eat sand through there, digest the food particles within the sand once inside, and then dump the sand from that same opening, which sounds weirdly related to how The Mother functions. She eats from one opening, and births “sand” children as well.

The mother feels like she's missing a story on her looks. She has the 8 legs, is hairy, gives birth to dust children, a round maw for a mouth, no eyes, lives in/runs an orphanage.
It feels like it's missing something to bring it all together. Her actions don't have spider reflections. The birthing clashes with the orphanage idea itself. I like it, but I need to know some details before I can love it.

1:31:02 i mean...Six CAN be forgiven like, shes what? 9 at best, her body git mutalited and tortured, by a guy who looks like Mono, and then Mono yanks her out of the peace she has after, likeyou can go so much more in depth with the trauma she suffered mentally and physically that led her to dropping Mono but, point is Six isnt a heartless monster and people need to stop acting as if she is.

As someone with a specific scopophobia for intense wide-eyed staring, I've never found faceless character designs all that scary. So just by virtue of that I find The Teacher alot scarier than The Mother.
I honestly find the mother kind of cute, she doesn't even have the mandibles or pedipalps that usually defines the alien nature of a bug or spider. (wait, actually tho. perhaps some pedipalps hiding inside that face hole only to shoot out and grab ya if you got too close would have completed her design more? I feel like I'm kinda cooking with that...)
Like I'm sure she'd terrify me if I encountered her in real life bc I would very much like to not die horribly, but from a safe distance she's as endearing as any huge fluffy yet dangerous animal.

The Teacher on the other hand unnerves me to simply look at. Like the idea of her spotting me and our eyes meeting and then that awful face coming towards me.
Being stared down by a human face, and such a manic expression at that, just feels a whole lot more oppressive, like even just the illusion that there should be a mind there to plead to makes the situation feel more helpless and unfair, at least to me.
At least with The Mother the last thing I see before I die doesn't have to be that awful face delighting in my demise.

14:00 his mask actually reminds me of how executioners used to dress. They wore a hood so at least in theory, there was no person killing a human, which was a sin, but instead a masked representative of justice. They would also be absolved of any sin by clergy when an execution happened. Idk if people actually knew who the executioner was or if it was always a criminal, but masking them was very common. Like you said for the janitor, it takes away accountability.

i totally get the feeling about the mother’s design. she feels like a low-level enemy in some kind of rpg as opposed to a big boss. i think it’s just the simplicity of her design that does it. also she reminds me of my fat black cat.

DUDE, using the unknown in place of the Sniffer is golden, I already have that connection in my head and SO want him to be a cosmetic for the unknown, it would work almost too well with the whole teleport thing.
