I personally see the HDG as a Plan C (Advantage), but with a small, always increasing premium, a lower MOOP and none of the plan C disadvantages. It's like a C on steroids, but then, the HDG has the part D to deal with.

Our HDG plan is less than $50 a month. Saving us $200 a month vs G plan in our state. We put the savings in a Brokerage Account for future Deductables. The Brokerage Account continues to grow!

I’m paying $700 a month now for private medical insurance right now retired and 62 years old. I was on Obamacare last year and it was $1150 a month and my notice said it was going up to $1500 a month for 2026 so I was thankful I found a private plan for $700 a month !

So going to Medicare Supplement in 3 years will be about $190 a month in my area. Plus part D maybe $100 a month for each in 3 years…. All in I’ll be paying about $290 conpared to the $700 I pay now… I’ll be thrilled to be saving $410 a month with no copays or co- insurance. Can’t wait, sign me up.

Factor in a 15% annual premium increase for plan G and a 5% annual increase on HDG…. The savings explode then

How do you see premium increases compound on G vs HDG? Wouldnt that scenario be in favor of HDG where they compound over a much lower starting rate and a lower percentage?

Are you factoring in the premiums rising slower under HDG in your 10 year comparisons?

Good video but the wrong analysis. I ran this through a simulator and it turns out your health is not driver to calculate cumulative savings over time - it's the carriers expected change in premiums. If you expect medical costs to continue to rise then it's conceivable to your premiums 20 years from now could be $800/mo which will far outstrip all these calculations. Just because HD-G isn't popular now doesn't make it a smart play.

G only makes sense for the person who has lots of chronic conditions going into Medicare. It takes a catastrophic event to hit that MOOP (and that's what it is not a deductible). With plan G rate increases the average person simply will not be able to afford that supplement as they get older.
