First, my deepest Moss Steppin’ apologies to @daniellemurnett2534 for somehow not including you in the comment pile for informing me of the Famicom Disk System on my first video! This user was THE FIRST PERSON to tell me about it, and that’s probably how the comment screenshot got lost in the shuffle, but it is no excuse! 😔 (thanks for showing up and supporting the new vid by the way 😊 I hope you will accept Moss’s Ultimate Blessing as compensation) (You check the Moss’s Ultimate Blessing…wait…can it be…?!) EDIT 2: HALLOWEEN HACK This may be an unpopular opinion, but as a creative person who has been on the internet since being a pre-teen, my personal stance on the hack is “if I wouldn’t want something I made as a child weighing in on my adult career, I won’t do that to someone else” 😂 I’m not saying it’s bad to acknowledge it or that nothing interesting is in the hack! But… I’m probably never going to talk about it. 😅 I choose Mercy for Mr. Fox… But I am aware of it, so for those curious, there are some comments talking about it more below! EDIT 3: COMPLETE WITHOUT ISSUE JAPANESE TRANSLATION I have been informed that the Japanese PlayStation Trophies are worded in a way that makes the legal etymology of issue potentially less relevant to analysis of the eggs. I found a source that seems reliable, and the trophy language is reflective of “Gaster’s” speaking style in other parts of the game, so I will assume the intel is legitimate. The trophy reads “問題ナク　完了。” which means “completion without problem.” I checked the word 問題 (mondai) across a few reputable dictionaries, and none indicate that it carries the same genealogical definition as “issue.” It appears to exclusively mean “problem.” The good news is that even without the trophy and its Japanese translation taken into consideration, the egg itself is very literally a lineal descendant of something. All eggs are a reproductive structure. (For sickos, Wikipedia describes an egg first as an “organic vessel,” so do with that what you will). Therefore, analysis of the eggs through the concept of reproductive relations is reasonably viable regardless of the word Issue at all, it simply ties the egg to the concept of Problems. EDIT 4: KEYGEN GENRE I’ve been informed that the genre more specifically that keygen is specifically considered “Demoscene,” which is closely affiliated with software piracy and the software crackers who made it possible, and also had a practical and aesthetic focus on making music and visuals that required an extremely limited amount of storage space. The Hacker in Cyber World even describes the fireworks as “a cool demoscene.” EDIT 5: BROMIDE LUNAR REFERENCE It turns out the Bromide items in Chapter 5 are an explicit reference to the Lunar series, specifically Lunar two with bromides for characters Lemina and Borgan. My research fell short as it was merely an aside about what I recall from playing the games as a child, but we now have the cold hard facts. Thank you! EDIT 6: INCONGRUOUS ZELDA FOOTAGE IN VIDEO A few people have questioned my use of Link’s Awakening footage in my video following discussion of the FDS Legend of Zelda. This was intentional, but I didn’t spell out my reasoning verbally in the video which has led to confusion. It is my understanding that the SWORD Route Mantle game is primarily inspired by Link’s Awakening specifically, due partly to the direct quote from the Spamton Sweepstakes and partly to the file names referencing Link’s Awakening’s boss, Nightmare, and many other overlaps. My mistake was immediately following the discussion of “The Legend of Zelda” by pivoting to then discussing “Zelda,” which I hoped would be interpreted by the viewers as an abbreviation for the franchise as a whole, NOT an abbreviation for the title of the first game in the Legend of Zelda franchise. I apologize for the confusion and hope this clears things up! EDIT 7: LOAN WORD CLARIFICATION Someone pointed out a few points on loan words I should clarify, as I shaved the concept down a little too much for this video. First, loan words can exist in any language. For example, the word cassette in English just comes from French for “small box.” Additionally, there does not need to be semantic drift for a loan word to be a loan word. コンピュータ (konpyuuta) is just. Computer. And there’s no change in meaning between the English and Japanese definitions. Just wanted to make these clarifications as that segment sorta flew by! I wasn’t sure the audience would appreciate a longer impromptu language lesson, but since it has come up, I thought I’d share. Thank you! 😊

Undertale 10th anniversary stream has Spamton A. Spamton use what is very clearly a spamton themed floopy disk prop, so that also adds to Floppy EmptyDisk theory

The "Keygen" scene is a reference to the YouTube poop "The King Installs Sony Vegas" by Moto200.  Which, in turn, references the music and visuals associated with a particular keygen.  There's a name for that genre of music/visuals: "Demoscene". Demoscene art has the objective of fitting an audiovisual show into an incredibly small file, typically 4-64kB  The Hacker calls his fireworks show a demoscene.

This was a lovely video through and through! I actually wanted to bring up floppy disks as a format in the comments of your previous video but figured you already got them on full blast. I will say, I personally find this to be an amazing and comprehensive video, both the 1st and 2nd video on the topic of what the device potentially is, and what it uses for data reading. Its a new frontier in discussion so seldom explored and I appreciate your exploration of the topic.

i always thought the white pen of hope was meant to be a wite-out pen! not like, a literal wite-out, but wite-out as a metaphor for the power to rewrite the path that's been fortold, to correct mistakes and/or make it a better story

YES YES MORE OF DELTARUNE THEORIES THAT TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION OF THINGS OUTSIDE OF THE WHAT THE PLOT IN-GAME SHOWS US... also to add on this, i mentioned this once in a big theory server but no one really paid mind to it, toby's comment about our theories being a sort of time capsule for this era and how this is the ONLY time we get to create something has me wondering if it was related to all of this. because, over time, there are certain forms of physical media that have become obsolete and even forgotten. makes you think about that line from the newsletter and how just how much weight it actually has, considering toby came from an era that had all these technologies present but was slowly starting to be phased out. much like how i was born when dial up internet was still a thing, but it was slowly starting to be phased out. kinda genius of toby to make use of his younger audience's lack of knowledge for older tech, but it's also a genuinely somber thought too, you can't help but feel nostalgic for an era that you were never even born into.

Yes, this is also what the 64DD "Ura Zelda" meant, it's literally just Master Quest <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OLOkqdlAFY&t=1839">30:39</a> Perhaps the "ISSUE" is not the egg itself, but the space in between... but "without issue" meaning the eggs are Gaster's offspring also would fit his very particular speech pattern.
