  I know I’m three years late and no one is going to read this, not to mention that my greef isn’t connected to a person, but this speaks to me so much. I lost my cat, more than a year ago, but I still feel it so deeply. It doesn’t matter to me that he wasn‘t my brother or my father or my child, but he still was everything to me. My life has been fucked in may ways, but he was always there. Now he isn’t anymore and I still don’t know how to move on. I’d never wish this feeling on anyone.

  I get what Keane is saying about catching Zendaya but I read that as a more discreet moment of him being triggered by the similarity of the two events, which is a real element of PTSD to make connections based on relative similarity, and the immense relief that he was able to prevent her death while experiencing the grief, irrational as it may be, of losing Stacy.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rtD176pnaY&amp;t=1322">22:02</a>-<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rtD176pnaY&amp;t=1327">22:07</a> But Andrew&apos;s Peter explicitly said when he first brought up Gwen&apos;s death that &quot;I&apos;m never going to be able to forgive myself for that.&quot; His reaction to saving MJ and after asking if she was okay was first naturally of &quot;guilt, regret, and sadness&quot; (thinking of Gwen), but quickly went to &quot;still sad but ultimately satisfied and content&quot; when MJ asked him if <b>HE</b> was okay. IMO, that perfectly lines up with the themes and subtext of Marc Webb&apos;s TASM movies of bad things happening just because, and the person who feels guilty eventually learns that everything bad that happens is not their fault, and they, in time, will get over their grief and trauma to become who they were meant to be. He, unironically, is living by Gwen&apos;s wish of &quot;becoming hope,&quot; especially for Tom&apos;s Peter.

  Garfield’s Peter character has likely caught plenty of people in his time as spider man, so the point isn’t catching some “random woman”. It is him seeing this other Peter Parker in another world, who is already freshly wracked with grief for his version of Aunt Mae, being about to be put through the additional hell of the type loss he’s been through with Gwen Stacy on top of all that. It’s him experiencing the horror of seeing that grief and darkness about to repeat on this other, younger version of himself, and then feeling the catharsis that he was able to save this world’s Peter from going through the same thing he has already been through. Saving Mary Jane in and of itself is still significant, but it’s about who she is to the other Peter that makes saving her such an exceptionally significant emotional beat for him. Not to mention likely fighting through the ptsd of similarities between the two situations and triumphing over it. Also, the emotional impact on the audience for their grief for past characters they are invested in is a valid, significant, and effective decision to put that scene in the film.

  I lost my mum 4 months ago and this made me cry a few times. I really understand feeling the guilt as I cared for her the last months of her life and was angry at myself for a long time. It was easier feeling relieved of the responsibility and guilty feeling that than to just miss her. I can cry and miss her now and try and think about how Vision saw Wanders grief. Miss you mum 🩷

  I think one thing I still never understood about tasm 2 is the railroad scene. It almost felt like Peter was ready to reject the obsessive search for his parents after his talk with May, and begin to accept that he might not know and start that healing process, but then they phoned in a convenient key to a hidden train that contained his answers which kinda made his conversation with May feel less impactful. But great video and really made me appreciate these movies in a different light.

  I didn’t read all the comments, but I hope someone mentions Wanda Vision. That entire series was all about dealing with grief. <br><br>Thor also deals with great loss and grief that builds until it hits a turning point at the end of End Game.

  I adored 500 Days as a dumb teenager who felt Summer owed Tom affection. As I aged, I grew out of my “total misreading” and realize that I had completely misunderstood my favorite movie. It’s so wonderful to fall back in love with something once you stop trying to force it to be what you want.
