The light came back when Clarice shot Bill because she shot out a window at the same time.

I have watched a number of reactions to this movie and it's always interesting to me that everyone gets nervous in the first Hannibal scene about her getting close to the glass. It speaks to the psychological impact of the movie. He obviously can't get at her through the glass and her proximity to it doesn't affect her safety, but there's something so distressing about Anthony Hopkins' performance that you forget that obvious thing while you're watching it.

The year this movie won a bunch of Oscars, Billy Crystal was hosting and he came out on the gurney in exactly the same mask, and everything. And Anthony Hopkins was there in the first row laughing his ass off. And Billy Crystal said, "Sorry I'm late. Anthony Hopkins and I had an old friend for dinner."

That very good boy is possibly the most adorable and wholesome thing I’ve seen all week.

You say it's not scary but you are watching with 21st Century eyes. The likes of CSI etc weren't around back in 1991 so this was the first glimpse of the world of profiling etc and it was chilling - with Hopkins performance still being so. The success of this film showed there was an appetite for such dark stories with the public.

My parents and I always laughed at Lecter's "Love your suit." line as well.

Clarice gave him so much personal information just to force him to fulfill his commitment to reveal the identity of the killer. She took a big risk and that's why Hannibal respects her.<br>'I'm having an old friend for dinner.' Brilliant

One of only three films ever to hit the “Oscar Grand Slam”… a sweep of the top five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay.
