He sees her as someone who is “broken” due to her childhood trauma, but who nevertheless possesses extraordinary moral strength.<br>He wants Clarice to face her fears in order to silence the “screams of the lambs” in her head.

  What I think about why Hannibal wants to learn about Clarice&apos;s trauma is pretty similar to what you touched on. &nbsp;He&apos;s lost his humanity and he wants to experience humanity again vicariously through her. &nbsp;If you look closely you can even see there&apos;s tears in his eyes after she tells him about the lambs. &nbsp;Such a great character.

  Jodie Foster made one of the greatest performances in film history. The photos of her holding the oscar statuette warm my heart to this day.

  True fact when they were making this movie<br>She never spoke to anthony hopkins &nbsp;off camera. &nbsp;She said he really scared her. I guess his acting was so believable. &nbsp;Anyway, at longtime after that, they finally &nbsp;both met together. And she talked with him then.

  You did an excellent job with this, much better than most other reactors! You were very perceptive. This was adapted from an excellent novel. Both Crawford and Lecter came to appreciate Clarice&apos;s bravery, intelligence and spirit. One stroked her finer, and the other had the extended handshake. &nbsp;Both wanted her to succeed. Lecter originally wanted to hear about Clarice&apos;s trauma, which he loves hearing about and analyzing, after which he thanked her and called her brave. He rewarded her with clues. &nbsp;In the end, he called her to see if the lambs had stopped screaming since she had saved Catherine, and to tell her he would not come after her (which she knew he wouldn&apos;t also). There were other movies and shows about this character, but none were nearly as good.

  Retired US Marine here. The FBI shares those woods as a training area with the Marine Corps, and all new officers spend several months there. I got to know those trails well. There are signs like those &quot;Pain&quot;, etc. ones all over. <br>In my 2nd career I was a psychotherapist &amp; worked as clinical supervisor in a prison psychiatric hospital. I had to go through 9 remotely controlled gates or doors to get to my office. We called it the prison within the prison.

Clarice understood Frederica&apos;s need to have small hidden places to hide her secrets.
