  I was first issued an M 1911A1, nearly a half century ago and I still carry one today, having never found anything better.

  I have Springfield M-1911 with US ARMY STAMP on the slide. I have original Holster and Lenard loop with belts. This M-1911 was manufactured in 1917 in excellent shape and went through WW-I , WW-II Korea and Nam. I have original ammo made By Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia, PA.

  Keep the 45 but use a double stack magazine, 12 to 15 rounds and a de-cocker now.

  An American agent spent some time with Ho Chi Minh during WW II. When they parted, Ho was gifted the agent&apos;s 45 caliber pistol.

  One thing that honestly needs to be done is to widen the handle slightly and make it hold more ammo yet keep the original 1911 sharpe n’ looks as original as possible. 👌

  Writer stationed in Germany 1969 I carried a colt 45ACP. I shot the best among others in my group. We/I delivered classified material 2 other units stationed along the east/west border of Germany 🇩🇪. Yes, the country was still devided @ this time. I bring all this up because I never carried cocked &amp; locled. I truly hated it. Always afraid it would go off &amp; sure as 💩1 did. The soldier in ?, had 1 go off into his leg. After that I practiced whenever I could draw, rack-the-slide &amp; fire over &amp; over again. 2 things would have been nice. Double action mode along w/higher capacity magazine.I was 21 @ that time now I’m 78. Good story. AI stumbled a few times so be it. Thank U 4 listening David E.
