You can like or dislike opera, but you can't deny inhuman power and control that lady has in her voice.
Btw she is one of the best soprano ever to walk the Earth. She was called in opera circles "La superba" for a reason

Freddie loved opera and was thrilled to perform with such an amazing talent as Monserrat Caballe. An opportunity a rock star wouldn’t normally get.

This song was for the Barcelona Olympics, but Freddie knew he wouldn't be alive for it. RIP Freddie and Montsy.

Freddie Mercury was platonically in love with Montserrat Caballé. He loved her because he always wanted to be an opera singer. When the city of Barcelona was selected as the Olympic city, the opportunity arose to create an official song for the inauguration of the Olympic Games. Freddie took the opportunity to meet his idol and offered to sing with her. From there, the idea of singing this song, made by Freddie, and the idea was to sing it at the inauguration of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

In addition to this song, he composed several more songs with her. Unfortunately, he died before the Olympic Games were inaugurated, due to AIDS. She is a disciple of Maria Callas, who was the greatest opera singer of the 20th century, and Montserrat Caballé is considered her successor. This video was recorded three years before the inauguration of the Olympic Games on Avenue Maria Cristina in Barcelona, and I was there.

On 8 October 1988. La Nit festival in Barcelona was staged on the occasion of the arrival of the Olympic flag from Seoul for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. Montserrat Caballé was one of the most famous opera divas of the last century, who was brave enough to sing with a rock singer, because she realized The Musician in Freddie instantly, and they became very good friends very quickly.

Great reaction. This was, perhaps, the only time that Freddie Mercury was nervous before going on stage, he held Monderat Caballet in such esteem. Monserat was asked many times to perform this song with other singers, but always refused, Freddie was the only person she ever sang this song with.

Freddie Mercury was told once that he would never be a rock star. He thought about it for a while then replied, No I will be a Legend. That is true entertainment.
