  Guys - they actually play this song every day at the gateway to the Olympic park in Barcelona. It's a magical experience to hear it in the city where it belongs. Thanks for the review - great as always.

  Montserrat was devasted when Freddie died as she counted him as a true friend. He was a passionate opera lover and working with MC was a dream come true for him.

  That friendship could might be seen bizarre at a first look, but was deep as hell!! Monserrat was one of the few people who knew Freddie was ill. Their first meeting were at a famous hotel in Barcelona and they spent hours and hours sharing till 6 am. Lovely couple.

  Freddie had been a long-time fan of opera, especially Montserrat Caballé(Freddie said that Montserrat is “the best singer in the world”). In 1986, he mentioned on Spanish television that he would like to meet her, and they met for the first time in Barcelona in February 1987. Later, when the city had been chosen for the 1992 Summer Olympics, Caballé, a native of the city, was asked to help produce a song for the games. She asked Mercury to collaborate. Caballé became enthusiastic about the project and instead of recording a single, she proposed to make an album, on which Mercury agreed. "Barcelona", their proposed opening song, had to be completed by 1988 in time to be entered as a candidate for the 1992 Olympic theme.(song was the anthem for the 1992 Olympics but could not be performed live by Mercury due to his illness and death before the Games. Instead, a recording was shown during a travelogue at the opening ceremony.) The album is called Barcelona

  Girl from my school was inspired by this song to become an opera singer. We were 11 then. She had the honour to be chosen by Monserat for her masterclass.

  That&apos;s Freddie&apos;s step into the opera grounds..<br>He wrote the entire album only for her❤<br>It&apos;s included in his solo career and for me that album, was his confession to the world that he wasn&apos;t only a rock singer but the greatest musician of all times. <br>No one&apos;s like him<br><br>Long live Freddie Mercury

  Freddie Mercury knew that he was HIV-positive. In an interview after his death, Montserrat Caballé shared that when she was about to drink from his champagne glass, he told her, &apos;Don&apos;t do that, my darling, your Freddie is sick.&apos; To accomplish all that he did while knowing he was condemned to death is superhuman. 💔
