"Everybody's winging it" is certainly one thing I learned growing in to middle-age.
Don't put yourself down, because no one else has a clue either... we're all winging it.
Become good at winging it.

Well said, Scott. I often think of this quote from Robert Heinlein: ""A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

Everything feels chaotic right now. People are easily replaced and we're all a couple of paychecks away from being destitute.
If I could do anything I wanted, i'd make furniture (specifically entertainment units for amps and record players) and guitar bodies, while running a tool sharpening and locksmithing gig on the side.

The dream is to rebuild local community. Growing food, making stuff, fixing local roads, etc. If we all knew a little bit of everything, we'd be just fine.

I almost started typing a response before listening to this one. Living in the 4th Quarter, I immediately had my own ideas, but I then thought you would probably touch on most anything I could add. My recommendation to those who listen is to listen to this over and over until you understand well what is communicated here. We're all on different paths so the particulars will be different for everyone. We are not even aware of all the influences that brought us to today, or how they color our experience of it. Avoid the danger of thinking you got here on your own, and the arrogance that tends to come with that mindset. Scott didn't use the word today, but "humility" is embedded throughout his advice. If you can exude confidence while demonstrating humility at the same time, your value will increase. Scott is an excellent model. Be that guy for others and you will be blessed. Well done Scott.

Whatever field you’re in, whatever industry, find the people like this guy. Find the experienced team members and bug them until they give you something to do. Be helpful. Ask them how they do what they do, and ask how to get to do what they do. You will not be disappointed.
