  Remember.. if you don’t know what do to do.. or caught in a moment of having nothing to do .. u can always pick up a broom and start cleaning.    Keeping A clean job site / work space is always appreciated and needed

  This tip is for the newbie’s… greenhorns… tenderfoots…<br>Leave your PHONE in your POCKET! &nbsp;Don’t pull it out every time there’s a two second break in the action… <br>It’s a fast way off most job sites. &nbsp;For the most part… EYES OPEN…. Mouth still, Brain engaged! &nbsp;<br>When you get back in your car… because you probably don’t have a truck yet… <br>Check your… whatever it is you check. &nbsp;Put your phone on silent… silence your notifications. &nbsp;Have your phone on you for emergencies. <br>Your safety as a beginner comes from your senses. &nbsp;Eyes and Ears. &nbsp;Inattentiveness is the first cousin to a bad accident.

  Starting my apprenticeship in a few days. Coming from the medical field and going to the trades and I didn&apos;t have a proper Father or Grandfather to teach me these things. Thank you for all of the knowledge that you share.

  If you have a very heavy wheelbarrow, it can sometimes throw anyone off balance. If that happens, you can save it by pushing down the handles and setting it down as fast as possible. Then you can figure out in what way you can pick it up again to keep going without dropping it.

  Many supervisors are scared to talk because employees might learn a supervisors weakness (math, measurements, ect). That&apos;s actually a good thing. &nbsp;Be vulnerable. Let your workers lift you up. You&apos;re not the king with an iron fist who&apos;s word is law. You&apos;re building a house, don&apos;t let your head get big. &nbsp;I&apos;m saying this as a supervisor and firefighter paramedic LT.

  The “blocking the guard” statement is absolutely true. I might do something “dangerous” on the power machine or with one of our tools but I’m the foreman and I never let the new guys do it. Sometimes you HAVE to do something dicey to get the work done, but you don’t set other people up for failure/injury after. I tell my apprentices, part of MY job is doing the stuff that is riskier because I know how to do that dangerous thing as safely as reasonably possible.
