  I remember, as an Evangelical, going to "healing" services and thinking, "Jesus said if I have the faith the size of a mustard seed, then mountains can be moved", and yet I saw nobody, apparently, with enough faith to be healed. Another peg being removed from the jenga tower of my faith.

  I'm missing my left hand since birth. Growing up in the Church of God, it was only a matter of time before an evangelist would come to town and notice me. So, I ended up being called up to the altar to be "made whole". I remember thinking while I was being prayed over, I feel whole now, I was born like this after all, I wouldn't know what to do with a left hand had one grew out. When the miracle didn't happen, I was told I would wake up in the morning with this new left hand. Of course, this didn't happen, nor did I expect it or want it to happen. Later, more level headed members would come up to me and say, The Lord made you this way for a reason, so that you might show his glory in other ways. I never let it get me down though, even though it was a little traumatic at the time.

  My mother developed Multiple Sclerosis in her thirties, my Dad was (still is) a preacher, he of course prayed diligently and even went to several faith healing services. Nothing worked and he told me a couple years ago he finally realized it wasn't gods will to heal her. That was the beginning of my deconversion.

  My mother surprised me by telling me her pastor said god didn’t heal cancer. My daughter had cancer and was prayed for  again and again but died anyway. Same with my brother in law. Their pastors shrugged and said they didn’t have enough faith. My sister has been prayed for healing for arthritis of the hip. No healings. I personally have never seen a miracle. But I have seen some very rich pastors.

  If a priest blamed me for him not being able to cure my eyesight I'd say, "So my non-belief is more powerful than your deity?" Actually being able to grow limbs and organs and curing disabilities (that God gave us to begin with) would be excellent evidence. And yet, we never see that.

  My older brother passed away in May. <br>We(my family, my church) had been praying for him for 25 years; which of course, didn&apos;t work.<br>When I was very into my Christianity, I spent countless days fasting and praying for his healing. Nothing.<br>What broke me was when a friend &quot;in the Faith&quot; wrote to me saying she was sorry, but that our prayers were finally answered by god in &apos;taking him back to his presence &quot; <br>Damn. I told her to please keep her thoughts to herself and to let me grieve my brother&apos;s passing without any deity&apos;s intervention

  Thanks for discussing the grooming that goes on (malicious or not). &nbsp;I have a (recently diagnosed) congenital condition that can create chronic pain and fatigue. Between &quot;faith as big as a mustard seed&quot; and (Russian Orthodox) &quot;Your prayers have more substance due to your suffering, embrace your suffering&quot; &nbsp;I was crushed not only by pain and fatigue but by self doubt, self blame. <br>I struggled to embrace the pain and suffering - I had 4 kids at home! &nbsp;I prayed for mercy and healing but I didn&apos;t complain out loud so people around me didn&apos;t know how hard it was to function. Talk about confusion - embrace your suffering for Christ, count it all joy, pray for healing, god hears your prayers, faith can move mountains... <br>I was never caught by a big business faith healer, I was wounded by thousands of small cuts inflicted by (&quot;God&quot;) people I loved and/or respected.

  Faith healing scams don&apos;t get enough attention, this should be in front of every religious person in the world to expose the charlatans. I truly appreciate everything both of you do, I&apos;ve been a fan of Holy Koolaid for years, awesome to see you two collaborating!
