  Fun fact a lot of people don't know: Back in the day, in an interview about the song, Simon & Garfunkel mentioned that they had originally wanted the song to have a slower pace and a more contemplative feel. Their record label insisted that it had to be faster than their original demo version, and they sped it up for the official recording. In a way, the Disturbed cover is more true to the original intent of the song!

  One of the best comments I ever read about this song was on the official music video. It said " Simon and Garfunkel's version of this song was a warning... Disturbed's version is a rage that that warning was ignored!" One of my all time faves...

  There must be millions of people out there who had no clue David could sing like that. He was actually trained as a cantor in the Jewish faith, but chose to enter the world of heavy metal rather than his families wish to dedicate his life to his religion. His vocals are incredible, and his range is really amazing. He doesn't strain, his growls and screams are all so well controlled, and the power of his softer delivery is also goose-bumping. Apparently, Paul Simon, when hearing Disturbed's cover of his song, was also very impressed, and you can't get any higher praise than that. 🙋‍♂ 🙋‍♂

  If you go back and eatch the music video, you'll notice that every instrument only starts playing once it has been uncovered, revealed or repaired. If you actually listen to the words, it's all about how silence defines us. So as he begins to sing, people in the backround start to slowly pick up instruments that had been long abandoned. And as they pick them up, their sound joins the song. It's a auditory journey of abandoned people reclaiming their lost voices.

  David had the flu during that live performance.  But his work ethic wouldn't let him cancel the performance.  He once stopped a live concert when he thought a woman in the audience got hurt.  He brought her up on stage to make sure she was okay and invited her to stay up there for the entire song.  He really is a gentleman.

  Some people sing a song you just hear the lyrics, when David sings the same song he makes sure that you not only hear the words but also feel its meaning.  Incredible!!

  David was VERY sick during that live performance and running a substantial fever. He wasn't sure if he'd be able, but he went out and did it and knocked it out of the park. The way you thought you had some idea what to expect and then were just instantly silenced when it started - that was everyone the first time they heard this cover. Truly a masterpiece.

  I&apos;m a Queen fan, knowing that Freddy MURCURY had the best voice, EVER!<br>But now I put this version of Disturbeds, up there with Freddy. This version is so heart rendering, and it&apos;s done with so much passion it has to be one the best songs, next to Queens, ever!

  I have been lucky enough to see them perform this live. The crowd stops, they get quiet, they just sway, and it is so amazing. I still cry every time I hear this song.

  To think I was like a pre-teen when Disturbed dropped &apos;The Sickness&apos; album. I became a fan of the band then, but this blew me away when he did it and it still blows me away today. He&apos;s legendary. This is easily a Top 10 Live Performance of all time for me.

  I&apos;m 74 years old. I know the original of this song by S&amp;G - it is a part of my dna so to speak, as are the Stones. Beatles, Procol Harum, Three Dog Night, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Aqualung, Jethro Tull etc etc etc etc etc. <br>I never even heard OF Disturbed until now and I have to say they brought a respect and a depth to the original. Immediate and absolute fan. <br>Also loved Abigirl&apos;s reaction!

  Also, David is VERY humble. very down to earth. Watch some of the videos where he talks during his concerts. like the one where he stopped the show to calm a scared little girl in the front row. Or the one where a lady was holding a picture of her friend that committed suicide a month before they were supposed to go to the concert together. idk how to explain it. But David can inspire even the most hopeless person. Brighten the darkest of hearts.
