  As an European not moving out of the way when an ambulance is on the road is absurd. How can you not move out of the way??? It"s an ambulance!!!

  I think most road users in Europe have one thing in common: “I could potentially be in the ambulance and in mortal danger.” And so many drivers react accordingly: get out of the way and leave as much space as possible.<br>You don&apos;t need driving lessons for that, it&apos;s just common sense.

  Some context: That &quot;race&quot; saved a child and the driver was on the headlines on any newspaper in Hungary.<br>Yes, it was in Budapest.<br>Also some context: In Europe you HAVE to go out of the way, if you do not, you can be held liable.<br>You are even allowed to cross a red light, when that allows an ambulance, police or firebrigade to pass!<br>The same happens on the highways... if they are only 2 lanes, you have to go either as left or as right as you can and let the emergency vehicle pass. If you would use this lane, you will get fined extremley, if you don&apos;t move even criminal charges can be applied.<br>I know, unthinkable in the land of &quot;free&quot;.

  This is Budapest.They do an excellent job, working overtime, and for a quarter of the salary they earn in Western Europe.Massiv respect.

  Drivers make room for the ambulance because tomorrow an ambulance may rush to save their life.

  The ambulance always has the right of way. After all, you learn that in driving school. Every student is also told that, because there could come a time when you need an ambulance, and then you&apos;ll be glad when they arrive quickly and help you.

  Ambulances, fire trucks, police, and any vehicle with a sounding siren always have absolute priority. If the siren isn&apos;t sounding, the vehicle has the same obligations as any other vehicle.

  This ambulance driver exactly knows the dimensions of his ambulance, and he exactly knows where to go. The ambulance has three sirens blaring, and has massive lights on the front. This, combined with the general public being trained in their driving lessons to always be aware of emergency vehicles approaching from anywhere, is golden.

  The &quot;secret&quot; is that as soon as you notice an ambulance, you slow down drastically, which makes it way easier to stop and or get out of the way. Ambulances always have the right of way. Drivers in the US and A often don&apos;t change their behaviour at all and then do a Surprised Pikachu Face when they ambulance appears right next to them. It also helps that European sirens make full use of the Doppler-Effect, so you can judge how far away the ambulance is purely based on sound.

  You may not have noticed but the driver is also tapping his horn to change the siren tone through some sequences. &nbsp;They do the same thing in the UK. &nbsp;A sudden change of tone can more easily snap drivers out of their autopilot state.<br>Oh, and by the way, the ride in the ambulance will be free of charge to the accident victim.

  In Europe, there is a uniform law that states that anyone who deliberately prevents firefighters, ambulances, or police from passing through when their blue lights are flashing can be sentenced to a fine or imprisonment. Therefore, everyone in Europe adheres to the fact that the emergency services arrive at their destination to save lives.
