You made the smartest and safest decision possible.  You sought the advice of the medics who have the best local knowledge.  You prioritised your safety and peace of mind, and that was absolutely the right thing to do. I would definitely have done the same. I'm so glad to hear the horrible experience is over and you are fine.  Sharing the full story could help save someone's life!  It is very informative on several levels...well done 😊<br>Now go forward and enjoy all the good things.  Hope you are both having a great time after this setback x

Your health is your wealth Nigel, you did what you needed to do for your peace of mind , you had to act instinctively due to the circumstances infront of you,  if it did turn out to be worse than it was and you never acted upon it , then there would have been no going back , and it was a relatively easy fix, with it not costing too much and not taking up time ie staying in a hospital overnight for checks etc.  It does put emphasis on the dangers of something as simple as a dog licking you, we don't really think twice about it over hear. I would've been the same as you, better to take the precaution to help you to stop thinking about it and enjoy your time in Vietnam.
