  I bought the HEMI in 2500 SLT trim in 2003. It has 4.1 gears, and No MDS system.  Sure around town I  get 11- 12 m.p.g.. It currently has 162,000 miles without any ticks. It is a towing and hauling beast.  24 years ownership and no plans to get rid of it.

  I never, ever use MDS.<br>I put it in 8th gear always.<br>They don t make an MDS shutdown module for Mopars, only GM.

  I recently sold my old 2016 Ram Sport 5.7 , &nbsp;238000kms and no MDS disabled during that time and still going strong. Frequent oil changes and 5w30 and no issues.

  I have a 2017 RAM Laramie 1500 5.7 hemi. &nbsp;With about 10, 000 miles I purchased a Pulsar PCM. &nbsp;Best decision I&apos;ve made with my truck. &nbsp;40 minute biggyback exchange. &nbsp;Runs six different drive settings right off of the steering wheel. &nbsp;About another 35 HP on the performance setting and can switch while on the drive. &nbsp;No more MDS. &nbsp;Another 2 miles per gallon.

  Ram has known about these issues for well over a decade yet they don&apos;t fix them. It says a lot about the company.

  I&apos;d rather pay a bit more for gas than have my damn engine fall apart. &nbsp;I&apos;m going to disable the MDS on my &apos;24 Laramie. &nbsp;Still less than 4M miles on it. &nbsp;I have a 2nd vehicle. &nbsp;At least I can turn off the start/stop stupidity. &nbsp;The 2nd thing I hate about my truck is the telematics invasion of privacy. &nbsp;I don&apos;t have the Ram Connect app on my phone and I never will. &nbsp;All garbage.

  Every manufacturer has junk that cant make it to 75000 miles. Even Toyota is now having problems. Maybe it is artificial intelligence ( think about it) designing them now. I find some things on vehicles that just make me think, if I were the CEO I would fire the designer. Problem is I would bet none of them have ever had greasy wrenchs in their hand.
