This show unironically has an extremely wholesome and cute relationship even with all the ecchi stuff

The author of this manga is a woman who based Marin on herself. She loved manga, anime and games that were not always thought to be suited for young ladies, and liked dressing a bit atractive. Gojo is what she imagined would be a perfect romance partner. So while she did put in a LOT of fan service, because of the story and the way Marin acts and thinks of herself, this series and the female lead has a seriously large female fanbase. And because of how Gojo acts, that fanbase readily embraces him as well.

4:33 is always done to save budget. The MC sitting in the back corner by the window sets up a lot of simple shots where they don't need to animate any other people

@4:33 - One up from back left. it's called the 'protagonist seat' with good reason, someone did the math and a solid majority of protagonists sit there. It's because it allows the camera to focus on them without having to draw a bunch of other students, it allows them to see out the window (if something is happening outside or if the weather is setting the mood), and it lets the person behind them be a character of importance to interact with - with the character to their side only shown if the camera swings around, letting them be an occasionally seen character. Basically, it helps save on budget and sets up common shots easily.

The overarching message being told in MDUD is really beautiful, and sure, there are fan service moments that catch you wildly off guard, but most of the time it plays into the story and Marins character and how you should be able to be unapologetically yourself 🥰

Theres a ton of fan service in this anime, but it doesnt rely on it. The best moment are when its just Marin and Gojo chilling and talking, and opening up to one another. Its such a banger anime
