The memory of Walter Whites's unsung work never died amongst his people, but the individual has been resurrected. Bravo PBS!

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I was sitting here watching this, completely riveted. I grew up watching PBS documentaries all the time, and they had a profound impact on my life. I majored in African American Studies as an undergraduate, so it was especially fitting to see my professor, Kenneth Janken, featured!!! Thank you PBS!

This is exactly the type of factual media that would be deemed inappropriate in public schools. We must keep this history alive in our homes, churches, and any other organizations we are part of. Thanks PBS! We will have to keep supporting PBS as I'm sure their funding is on the chopping block with this administration.

@1:10:15 There is something to be said about the interplay of intersectionality and bigotry here. DuBois (the founder of the NAACP) supported the restriction of Ida B Wells from the group in 1909 due to her gender (@26:00), then DuBois is supplanted by a light-skinned upstart who wants to kowtow to the Yt agenda through respectability politics. DuBois' hypocrisy in his dealings with Wells lays a foundation whereby Walter White turns around and essentially does to DuBois what DuBois did to Wells. DuBois (and other Black men in NAACP) held fast to the supposed superiority and privilege of their sex to keep out and silence Wells, and White held fast to the supposed superiority and privilege of his whiteness to remove and silence DuBois. This is a very interesting snapshot of intersectional bigotry and how hierarchy impacts us all, although none more than Black women. The $hit always rolls down hill, as my father used to say!
