  As someone who knows a concerning amount about payday and it&apos;s lore, In the original payday the Heist, the no mercy job was a nightmare that wolf was having and not to be taken too seriously lore wise. However come payday 2, they actually changed things slightly. instead of stealing green flu samples, you were actually stealing samples of a super virus that an in universe mercenary faction was researching. While the L4D easter eggs such as Bill, the witch, patient zero slowly turning into a smoker are carried over into 2, it&apos;s treated more as a wink and a nudge to the players about the original no mercy job.

  personally i like the idea that malik somehow surviving the encounter means he was turned in someway but either isn’t aware or is purposefully being planted by the starer society to try and get info

Silent and deadly and the way it seemed to act like it hadn&apos;t noticed malik really makes it look like a hunter trying to mask itself as a non threat to their prey. Also a normal hunters normal way of killing non infected is using their &apos;claw&apos; like nails and fingers to shred through whoever unfortunate soul gets pinned down.

  If you think about it, bill as a starer would be worse than normal, because he would more likely be more ruthless and tactical, since he was vet and a great survivor.

  @Marcelame the infected Malik passes by isn’t a claws, it’s a Starer. The maker has established that at the time of the video, there was no knowledge of Claws existence and that there was only one in that Hive. The fact they saw only one is what makes them think and hope that Claws was a one time SI of the Starer.
