  My 1997 Heritage with droopy leather bags and a 128000 miles on the odometer was the first and last Harley I&apos;ll need. Coming off the showroom floor I was impressed by how lethargic the bike was and ended up with another $2500 or more in engine upgrades to make her go. The Evo engine since then has been trouble free and I like the old school look verses the new baggers that look like Goldwings. Things got interesting when this year I purchased a Triumph Bonneville T120 which has the retro look and similar in appearance to my 1966 Trumpet. One is like driving the Mack truck the other like a Lamborghini sports car, and the Triumph needed no extra work to make her go like a scalded ape.

  Paid 2500 bucks for my 62 panhead, coming up on 114k miles (my mileage, don’t know bikes total mileage) typically one kick and off I go. Extremely reliable, minimal maintenance.

  You all need to understand something. &nbsp;HD is owned by Wall Street financial stock management companies. Their one goal, one purpose above anything else, is profits - making money for shareholders. That&apos;s it. &nbsp;They could care less whether it comes from selling orange juice, apples, or Harleys. This is their only plan. And basically, the CEO is the largest shareholder in the group.

  2 months ago I went to a local HD dealership here on Vancouver Island and to my surprise there sat a beautiful 2006 Honda VTX1300. &nbsp;I looked around of course at the Harley’s for sale..with those prices….and I’m now enjoying my Honda VTX1300.👍🏾

  When you walk into a Harley Davidson motorcycle dealer, get ready for the pucker factor to kick in. It will. <br><br>2 years old unsold units hooked up to battery tenders. Complete with cheap aftermarket bling installed. Not even Harley Davidson performance parts. <br><br>Then you&apos;ll see list prices, and the additional fees and markups for the junk aftermarket bling. That you and everyone else didn&apos;t ask for and don&apos;t want. <br><br>If you see cars 🚗 in the parking lot of a Harley Davidson motorcycle dealer, those are the employees. Not any customers. <br><br>And if you see a 5000 + square footage dealership, along with an outdoor music venue, guess who pays for that? You do. If you&apos;re fool enough to fall for it.

  When my 02 road glide was totaled from a hit I took, year later I decided to get a street glide, old friend was helping close Dudley Perkins , oldest in the country, he took 5000 bucks off the list of a new street glide , from 24 grand to 19, staged it and put some pipes. Harley never saw me again , old buddy services it when needed. One thing I did immediately was throw away that lousy shock they put on that adjusted one side only ? Put a set of progressive on it. &nbsp;Rides great now. Heavier fork oil. It’s my last bike as I’m 80 now &nbsp;, been a good m8 which I was a little scared of.

  I have a 30k budget, but nothing excites me in the HD lineup. They simply won’t build an FXR type bike.

  As a 7 foot tall dude 400 pounds I walked into Harley. I’ve always gotten my rice rockets for past 20 years never paid more than 5k for any of the 5 bikes I got. I love the road glide at but said 37 k. Nope and o make great money. I chose the Buell for bolt 2009 they had sitting for 3500 bucks. Now I’m happy for years to come. I’ll go pay for an old road glide for under 10 cash soon enough.

  You can buy like new used bikes for less than half of the price and pay cash for it
