  Despite Myrkul being an evil god of the dead and all that, his clergy is... surprisingly chill, and performing beneficial services for the society, not really doing much evil besides the occasional undead used for this or that purpose.

  I love the idea that being the god of the dead low key sucks, like, it&apos;s the most work. <br>Everyone who has been the god of the dead is <b>fine</b> with not being in charge of &apos;all that&apos; when someone else comes by to take over, they just don&apos;t wanna be nothing. <br>Seems like Myrkul just wanted to have power and be immortal without the constant upkeep of lichdom. So when he fails to regain godhood, and ends up in the crown he&apos;s like: &quot;wait, I&apos;m immortal and still have inhuman power? I can chill with this...&quot;

  In a campaign I&apos;m a player in, I played a life cleric with such a warped idea of the life domain&apos;s teachings that when a servant of Myrkul and then, eventually, Myrkul himself spoke to her they went &quot;oh. I don&apos;t even need to coax you over to my beliefs. You&apos;re doing great. 10/10, no notes. Have a blessing for your good work. Um... spread Myrkul&apos;s name maybe... I guess, for extra credit.&quot; My cleric had never received divine words from the gods before, so she became a fanatic follower of Myrkul. Then, as time went on, even becoming emotionally attached to him. Like she would use her divine intervention every single night to make such specific requests of Myrkul that he couldn&apos;t possibly accomplish them. She did this on purpose because it not only meant the ability refreshed within a day instead of a week but also Myrkul had to keep listening to her words while it was being used. He tried speaking to her, in a dream, at one point in order to understand and, potentially, channel her interest in him in a way that would be less bothersome. But, when it backfired and she started falling in love instead, he was like &quot;OH NO. BANE, BHAAL, JERGAL HELP! WHAT DO I DO!??? GUYS, THIS ISN&apos;T FUNNY!!! 😭😭😭&quot; 😂

  Fun linguistics fact: In ancient English, &apos;doom&apos; could also be used to refer to a fate/decree/inevitability/law/destiny, and didn&apos;t necessarily have negative connotations (Oxford English dictionary).<br>That works well with Myrkul&apos;s general ideaology about death as-is. Everything alive dies. Death is not evil or wrong, it is fate. Death is how things are meant to end.
