We grew up in a world where you had NO idea what the people looked like unless you were lucky enough to catch them on tv(no taping anything) and some of us didn’t live close enough to record stores to get there the minute music came out!!

This is an example of why I stand by my belief that overall, pop music was the most diverse and FUN in the 70s. You might hear John Denver or Steely Dan or Eagles after this on the radio back in the day.

When this hit in the mid-1970's it was EVERYWHERE all the time. If you want to see the band play I would recommend their appearance on "The Midnight Special", much better sound and video quality. The boys in the band are still making money from this song.

They were a rock band playing rock music at a funk club one night, and someone in the crowd said "Play funky music white boy!" He wrote the idea for the song down during an intermission. :)
