  There's much easier ways to make a box than this, but I wanted to know if I could form one entirely from a single piece of steel. I learned a lot about how the material actually wants to move, and what doesn't work so well. The video is about figuring out a method more than making a perfect object. :)

  Such a brilliantly “Pask” project — experimentation, tooling, “I made a jig for it”, making for the pleasure of making and of finding out.   As a test, can you scribe or etch some kind of grid lines in the corners on test blank, that will show you how the metal is moving specifically in the corners. Then you could mock up a better template for removing more material before pressing. Also since you will likely grind edges for a finished product, here again you could cut alignment notches for the first press, and pins that stick up on the first die. Any hoo, always fun to watch

  The hilarity of not wanting to weld a box, then welding multiple boxes as forming tools is not lost on me. This is the goofy fun type of project I have fun thinking about all the time. &nbsp;Never change Pask, never change.

  I’d love to see this starting with a Damascus steel blank, the resulting pattern would be super unique highlighting how the box was made
