  There is a 99% chance Nintendo knows that simply making a game with more characters isn&apos;t enough, so they are probably going to do what they are known for, aka innovate.

  The frontier of crossovers is story. Smash scratched the surface with Brawl and reveal trailers, but only limited(usually 2 IP) crossovers have really explored real story crossover to any depth that matters.

  Smash is part of us and honestly it has my fondest memorys and im okay if it ended on ultimate ikn competetive people complain daily but no new smash will fix the inbalance because fighting games always have been this way

  Of course smash is still special. Sure gaming crossovers aren&apos;t surprising anymore but I&apos;m happy the series has stuck strictly to being a celebration of video games, not movies or even comics, love them as I do. It&apos;s all about games from old to new. A broad variety for sure but far more focused, I think, than a game mashing anything and everything could ever hope to manage. There&apos;s a restraint here that has kept us all speculating who&apos;s next for years. The kind of wonder you don&apos;t quite get when you know just anything is in the cards.

  I still feel it&apos;s still unique. People &nbsp;often &nbsp;focus to hevaly on the concept of a platform fighter and not on the DNA of each individual &nbsp;character. Plus &nbsp;people &nbsp;need &nbsp;to remember &nbsp;smash as franchises &nbsp;had 4 games prior to ultimate &nbsp;to finals the mechanics and its presentation. &nbsp;All the other platform fighters where missing &nbsp;game modes and single player story content.

  You overlook something big that is what makes Smash special with its crossover aspect- its STRICTLY a video game crossover, no other media. Fortnite is a media crossover- you&apos;ve got games of course but also anime, movies, even celebrities. None of that with Smash, it focuses solely on games standing on their own two feet alongside the other media instead of riding on their coattails. This is exactly why Goku in Smash was always a meme among fans- he&apos;s anime, not video game. He was created for anime. Literally none of the characters in Smash were created for anything but a video game.<br><br>So Smash stands out as a sort of mark of how gaming on its own has its own legacy. I feel that&apos;s especially important nowadays as a lot of people seem to view gaming as a sort of extension to anime or movies rather than as its own individual medium.

  I’m just now noticing Fortnite has Mythical Items from Sonic, Mega Man, Kingdom Hearts and maybe more I’m forgetting, while Smash doesn’t. I think that should give Fortnite some bonus points putting aside character skins and it also adds to the crossover element.

  I still feel Smash is unique but in my opinion Ultimate will never be the sane. In my opinion, this series will always be iconic thanks to Sakurai. And the long work of celebrating characters. Smash will never be the same if they ever make a new installment. Because Ultimate felt like the magnum opus he ever made. I think Smash will be remembered but the series likely would either get DLC or a new game that reboots the franchise.
