  The islanders must have been thinking "how am I supposed to return, the island is gone?!?!" It amazes me that we can't build houses for everyone or feed the world, but we can cause explosions that instantaneously burn as hot as the sun and rip apart the very building blocks of the universe. I hope humanity one day looks back on this chapter as our backwards, savage days

  My uncle Bob served in the Navy and was an engineer in Operation Crossroads. He was sent into ground zero only 8 hours after the blast to assess damage to the ships. His protection from radiation? A badge he wore that changed color to show how much radiation he had absorbed. They didn't know as much about radiation in the early days. He died riddled with cancer, may he rest in peace. 🙏

  They were playing with a new toy. They destroyed a beautiful island and the lives of the entire population of the island. They had a lot of fun playing with these new toys.

  I hate what we did there, it was despicable.  Removing the islanders from their homes and involving animals and all of the other wildlife and marine life and destroying that beautiful place and contaminating it permanently is just disgusting and unconscionable.  I can't even watch the rest of the video.  The arrogance and audacity of humankind knows no bounds.

  What a waste…..all that steel irradiated, and much of it sunk. How many farming utilities, building materials, and tools could have been made out of those ships!
