  I hung out with this guy for six months before going to his house for the first time to watch a movie. Midway through he locked his arm around my throat and told me how easy it would be to kill me. I obviously &nbsp;freaked out and he got mad at me because &quot;it was just a joke!&quot;. People are weird

  What Cam is saying by &quot;be nice to them but not&quot; is that women are taught not to escalate. You want to deescalate. You can&apos;t be confrontational. This can save you but it can also get you killed. You just have to do your best to read the situation/man. A man once asked to come into my apartment to use my bathroom, claiming he had been at a party next door and they wouldn&apos;t let him back in. This was literally just outside my door on the back stairs that are inside a locked fence, and my neighbors and I were all in our very early 20s, so it made sense. All I said was, &quot;Um...&quot; and he was already in the door. He was in the bathroom for like 10 minutes. My roommate woke up and was like, who the hell is in the bathroom?? I said I didn&apos;t really know. I asked him really gently to leave so we could go to bed and he flashed a gun, or at least made it looked like a gun, I can&apos;t be sure. He went back in the bathroom. I started flashing the kitchen lights off and on and was able to silently get my neighbor&apos;s attention. He came out to ask what was up, and the guy took off when he came out and saw him. I could have called 911, I could have shouted at him to leave, I could have shoved him.... but that all seemed too dangerous, especially with my roommate half asleep and confused about what was going on. There is no way to know in the moment the exact right thing to do.

  Normalize driving yourself on a first (or few) dates and if you need to saying “I’m not comfortable, I’m leaving.” <br>The best thing I ever did for myself was that I stopped being polite.

  If someone jokes about killing me, I&apos;m turning it around on them lol you think you&apos;re crazy? What I say to you will have you rethinking the way you even look at women you don&apos;t know and YOU will be the one wanting the date to end 😂😂
