I went to Vietnam , when I was 17 years old, in 1966. Back then you could, not be drafted under the age of 18, but you could enlist, at the age of 17, if you had your parents signature, which, I did, my mom signed for me, because my dad deserted us. I was stationed at a place called Monkey Mountain, when I was in Vietnam. I went through the Tet offensive, an lost 2 of my high, school buddies that were killed. I spent 3, tours in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. When I left Vietnam, and got back to the states, we were greeted with, eggs being tossed at us, and some of the guys were spit on as well. That was our welcome home. I am currently 76 years old, and I am on 80% disability from the VA, from my exposure to agent orenge while I was over there. I did not start that war, but I served my country, and I would again. There are alot of veterans in our country to day, that need your love and support, the Vietnam vets are dying off, but you have vets that served in Iraq, Afganistan, and other places. Keep in mind, I am only talking about guys and GALS that have been to war for our country. Don.t forget Guard and Reserve as well.

As a random dude from Ireland, god bless all of the American soldiers who fought in Vietnam. Tough bastards, fought whether they wanted to or not. In an entirely hostile environment

My uncle spent a tour in county as a combat corpsman. He came home a different man. He eventually relisted and retired a master chief. I respect him so much.

This is the song that makes me think of my father who was a Marine and served in Vietnam but came home broken. R.I.p. Dad.

Every time I hear this song, Vietnam combat footage is what I think of. Even when I was a kid and I didn't even know what "Vietnam" was.

Rest in peace for all the soldiers and civilians that died for such a useless war.
