  Ive always felt Bane jumps the shark for trying to go straight for Mystra and her portfolio he should try to either gather more portfolios from lesser gods or dominate them and try to form his own Pantheon

  One detail about Bane&apos;s church (though I don&apos;t know if it&apos;s lore in all editions) is that they&apos;re very spartan in living. I&apos;ve always found that to be Bane&apos;s &apos;redeeming&apos; trait as a god to follow and his pitch to why people would flock to his church. Say what you want about them, they do not indulge in opulence once they gain their power, they do not allow wealth and luxury-based corruption into the system once they rule it. Where even the good gods have gotten themselves imposing churches and gold-gilded armours through means that cannot just be wealthy donations, Banites at least don&apos;t shake down the people for their own luxuries. At least, that&apos;s what that one bit of lore suggests, while the loot pile the adventurers find after killing the Banites may disprove it in the actual adventure. <br><br>If you&apos;re wondering how a Bane-like god could come into power in a country, that could be your avenue. His church is harsh, despotic and strict, but it does not levy taxes so the nobles can eat cake and Bane&apos;s desire to rule over as much of the world may also mean that his church has a duty to keep the people loyal and thus fed. In very poor, harsh and post-ultracapitalist or colonised regions that require oversight against the individual&apos;s selfishness and wealthy oligarchs taking it all, a Banite tyranny may be a stability and order that people support as the best pragmatic solution. China kinda works as an example here, back then it was enough for the Chinese to pragmatically hope for and it of course didn&apos;t go away once the poverty turned to wealth.

  Remember that time in 4th Bane went ape and managed to absorb/enslave several Multi-Prime racial gods like Maglubiyet? Meaning he was intruding into Greyhawk and managed to become the big bad of the new setting of &nbsp;Nentir Vale? He&apos;s pretty scary when not constantly making dumb schemes that bump into Ao

  My favorite bit of Bane lore is that in 4e he was such a big threat good gods would secretly support Gruumsh schemes to kill him and take his portfolio for himself
