  I am a former military pilot. &nbsp;I realize this aircraft was dangerous as hell, but it must have been a real kick to fly!

  crazy to think that the late german equipment had such a weird mix of cutting edge technology and primitive production. the 163 was like a small spaceship but still used wood as the main building construction material.

  I couldn&apos;t imagine the mixed rush of adrenaline and fear rocketing towards the sky in one of these little birds, roaring towards a numerically superior enemy knowing this flight may be your last. Brave pilots on all sides.

  The art in this video is superb. &nbsp;Those super slow-motion dive attacks by the Me163, &nbsp;with the bomber gun turrets firing at it were FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.<br>I think this is the best video you&apos;ve done. &nbsp;10/10, Will Recommend.

  I love how the test pilots wer upset about the red color because it resembled the red baron so much. Just shows the respect they have for him

  There was a two-seat training version of the Messerschmitt Me 163. This was designated Me 163 S (short for &quot;Schulflugzeug,&quot; meaning &quot;training aircraft&quot;) and was also nicknamed &quot;Habicht&quot; (Hawk).<br><br>The most important features of this training version were:<br><br>Second cockpit: The aircraft was built directly on the airframe of the Me 163 B series, but equipped with an additional tandem cockpit for a flight instructor.<br><br>No self-propulsion: The Me 163 S had no rocket engine and no armament. It served purely as a glider, towed to altitude by a tow plane (such as a Junkers Ju 188).<br><br>Purpose of training: Because the Me 163, due to its tailless delta wing design, had extremely difficult landing characteristics and a high sink rate, the Me 163 S was used to safely teach student pilots the landing procedure and the aerodynamics of the type.

  It’s chilling that these pilots were essentially strapped to an unstable bomb, fearing their own melting fuel and landing skids more than enemy fire. A tragic masterpiece of desperate engineering. 🚀
