  This episode reminds me of the show, Hoarders,  they want help but when help arrives they don't want to get rid of anything.

  😂 This episode is a cautionary tale for taking on listed heritage buildings in the UK. Anyone who wants to buy one should watch this first. 😅

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJUbC9dcSBI&amp;t=2595">43:15</a> it’s amazing that English heritage has allowed roofs on the towers for decades but now draw the line and expect someone to live in basically a windowless brick column and only use the roof half the year. &nbsp;And they would rather just let her keep it, not do anything with it and have it fall into a pile of bricks.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJUbC9dcSBI&amp;t=798">13:18</a> it seems weird that the planners have a problem with something that looks like it belongs to the building. &nbsp;I mean how many of these preserved manor houses haven’t been modified, overbuilt with new fashionable facades, expanded, etc during their hundreds of years of existence? &nbsp;But from now on we have to preserve everything in amber?

  Barrie Taylor did get planning permission and went ahead. The result looked like an outside toilet bolted to the side of the castle, it was atrocious. Yes it may have saved the structure from the elements, but it didn’t save it from Taylor’s monstrous changes. I think it was in a Grand Designs episode.

  I’ve dealt with planner and frankly there a total pain in the arse. They won’t to save a building but every time one submits the refuse and won’t advise. However the don’t want a building to become are ruin which in a lot of cases it does. The real aggravation is the one planner may insist on one thing and the when it’s! Gone another has a different idea. Thank god they weren’t around when these buildings were built as we wouldn’t have them.

  Seventeen years after the footage from 2008 in this video, the most recent Google Satellite view still shows that Martello tower as an unaltered and covered with undergrowth. Pretty clearly that whole project went nowhere. For whoever wants to look it&apos;s Martello Tower 9 just uphill from Hospital Hill Road above the intersection with Temeraire Heights near Sandgate west of Folkestone. &nbsp;I haven&apos;t found the Scottish tower to check on its current status but something tells me Barrie simply didn&apos;t grasp was was needed to make an effective presentation and wasn&apos;t interested in learning. Here&apos;s hoping he did man up, hire the right professional, and follow that guidance to complete his project.
