Those makes me think of my parents. They grew up in rural Indiana during the 1930s-40. My dad’s road was the last to get electricity before WWII. My indoor plumbing either. So when I was growing up mom used to say “can you believe I did my homework by lantern light? She loved light and had it on in every room. For dad it was hit water. He loved getting a hot shower every night in the army. So when we were kids daddy would take a long hot bath every night. Gracious I am 73 and an still ever thankful for hot water and electric light.

I Love the way the narrator make me shake hands with those just like me . He made the space disappear and time come together. Now I know we are the same and it makes me think we just get recycled when we die and do it all over again.

11:30 p.m., east coast u.s. I'd have better sleep habits if we didn't have electricity.

I grew up in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan. I was 8 when we moved into a house that had indoor plumbing and electricity. I thought we were rich. Two years later when we got a television and a phone. The television was a round screen and very old even at the time. The phone was a 5 party line. We were no longer just rich. We were filthy rich.

Feels weird that electricity changed not just nights, but daily rhythms.

Never forget that BILLIONS of human beings on this planet still suffer in conditions that necessitate constant vigilance due to abject poverty, unequal distribution of resources, wars, and rogue governments.
