  One of the weirder stories from his career was during his stint with the Dodgers. Instead of consulting with the pitching coaching staff that gave us Kershaw and Jansen, Syndergaard was consulting a hypnotist.

  I'll always remember him for his complete game shutout against the Reds on May 2, 2019. The Mets won 1-0. Their sole run? A Syndergaard homer.

  He didn't know how to spin a baseball at an elite level to throw MLB quality breaking balls. His crappy slider worked when hitters had to account for his 99 mph fastball, but when he lost 5 mph off of that fastball due to injuries, he had no Plan B. Contrast that with the late-career 89-mph throwing Kershaw, who could still pitch despite losing 5-6 mph off his fastball because he could actually throw to locations and change speeds and action on his pitches. Syndergaard was a thrower - Kershaw was a pitcher.

  Bro hired a hypnotist in his time with the Dodgers over consulting with Mark Prior and the staff, who are one of the best in the league at what they do. He had it coming. <br><br>If the Dodgers can&apos;t fix your pitching, no one can.

  I absolutely love that modern science has made TJ so much more successful than prior but guys like Thor and currently Andrew Painter really remind me of how nothing is guaranteed with it

  Legitimately forgot about this guy until this video. I even tried to remember his name a while ago to look up what happened to him, and all I could piece together was that there were two a&apos;s in his name. Wild to see how he turned out. I didn&apos;t know he went the Mike Trout route: over-train in off-time so hard you&apos;re constantly injured and unable to maintain your once high-level skills.
