tried getting into vinyl but it was too high maintenance for me. I love the simplicity of CDs & am glad to own the music I love physically.

I have a collection of records, CDs, and cassettes. Vinyl has a special place in my heart, but just give me music, no matter the format.

CDs never left. It's the buyers that are coming back, not the CDs. I started with vinyl long before CDs were a thing. When CDs came out I purchased my fair share but kept my vinyl collection.
I have both vinyl and CDs. I enjoy both formats very much and do not compare them. People should buy and own whatever works for them. 🙂

I enjoy both formats, CD & Vinyl, there are pros and cons to both. For me it is the best of both worlds. I have some CD’s that are impossible to find on vinyl or just too expensive. Plus the bonus music you get on cd is nice. Another thing the sound quality of CD’s has improved over the years making them more attractive. I still collect CD’s and don’t plan on getting rid of them, same for vinyl records.

I’m a cd collector when cds first came out I loved the sound quality and never stopped buying them and always cheaper, but I am pleased to have all formats for everyone to choose to their own tastes.

CDs have my vote, I grew up with them, I like the format, they don’t degrade quickly, and when you look for rarities from 90s and 2000s CDs are the only format, vinyls were almost non-existent back then.

I’m 61 & I haven’t bought vinyl since ‘82 wen I 1st heard cd’s & have Never looked back !!!! In my opinion cd’s are by far the best sound quality hands down over vinyl,,cassettes,,8tracks,,reel to reel,,streaming…never have 2 worry bout the snap crackle pop etc…wen u buy used vinyl u just never kno if it’s going 2 skip on u even if it looks clean etc & even with a brand new sealed new record there’s still a chance it’ll skip on u….the experts from the beginning of vinyl says the vinyl record is only good for up to 50 plays & on top of that every time u drop that needle on that record it’s slowly wearing out no matter how good your needle is etc…with cd’s it’s perfect sound from the 1st time u play it til the last..it’ll last u a lifetime..since 1982 I’ve Never had a new or used cd skip on me & in fact I’m still using the same CD player I bought in ‘82….

Welcome to "Sane City". The benefits of embracing multiple music formats are overwhelming IMHO and the dogged "vinyl record only" mentality seems like a source of frustration in several aspects. But each to his/her own.

I lost all my physical media (mostly cassettes because I was a teen/young adult during the 80s which was my peak music buying decade) in a 2016 divorce. In 2023, I began buying physical media again and I have bought it all to balance cost, availability, variety, convenience and several other factors.

I still have over 3,000 mp3s and other digital files on a laptop that is connected to my system thru HDMI. Added to that are my purchased records, singles, cassettes, and CDs - a collection of physical media that is ever growing. And you're right - all my formats sound different, but my system is pretty good and it all sounds good. This approach has allowed me to create a vast library of great (and a some not so great) music in under two years. Various formats is the way to go in my eyes.

I think that with the right rig, CDs sound better than vinyl and with what you save buying them over LPs, you can invest in a great DAC which will make your digital sources sound even better.

I feel like the lp guys and cd guys are on the same side here. Willing to buy a physical release, enjoy it, support the artist.
But I think ultimately it should not be about the medium anyway. It should be about the music. If you have the money and really like the music, it doesn’t matter whether the album/cd/stream costs 10 cents or 500 dollars. If you really enjoy the music it is worth it🤗

Well i enjoy the best of both formats.i have records and cds also cassettes. The magic of vinyl is that lots of records recordings were never edited to cd. But i enjoy them all.

I started buying CDs in 1991 and kept on buying until some years ago, when i could no longer afford to buy music. If i ever buy music again, it will be CDs of course. Records and cassettes are fine, but the CD is the most efficient format for music. Plus as a collector I love the object, especially when it comes in LP-like gatefold sleeve, nice booklet with lots of artwork and such.
