As a record store owner our sales of cds are up considerably….for USED CDs. They are still more budget friendly than most new cds. As always love the videos Frank thank you. 🙏

People are buying the surplus of used CDs which is causing used CDs to become harder to find. I buy mostly used CDs so this affects me. I still buy albums as well

I've resorted to buying CDs if the vinyl version is too expensive or out of print. If I'm not completely interested in a band and just want a certain album of theirs a $5-$10 CD is a better way to go than a $30-$40 vinyl.

I think what's billed as a "CD Revival" is more that the format isn't on the verge of extinction, as happened with Minidisc, Elcaset, Betamax, VHS and 8-track. A few companies are introducing new CD players, and there's a small upsurge in CD player sales. The biggest change is that the "off-the-grid" secondary CD market is far more active than five years ago. Thrift stores have caught on to this and raised prices. Stuff you'd find at yard sales, swap meets, "friends of the library" and places like this isn't sitting unsold, CDs are being snapped up. The few remaining CD manufacturing plants are staying in business rather than shutting down. So..... it's more like Compact Disc remains a living physical media format, albeit for a niche audience of music aficionados, rather than facing actual extinction.

I would never stream an album I own on physical media… it would just feel wrong…

Cds are still very relevant. Perhaps sales are just a reflection of our current economy like in everything else is down

Well, in the UK CD sales were up 15% in unit sales to 13% for vinyl in 2025. I know my used cd sales were up 20% in 2025 over 2024; I've been an online dealer for 25 years! CD sales were up the last 2 years in the US. Vinyl sales were down 1% at the mid year too in the US. Perhaps the Uk economy is much better than the US?

Vinyl is way overpriced. Most people can’t even afford it. Even CD prices are going through the roof.
