I think this railroad passed through Allentown PA. and Emmaus PA. Now I think it was taken over by the Norfolk Southern Railroad. I was last in Emmaus PA in 1974 and I remember the constant night time freight trains and horns blowing.

Okay, first off Reading is pronounced Redding, Wilkes Barre is Wilkes Bear. The Lehigh Valley was only a few months away from being profitable in 1976, but was already included in the Conrail merger. There was some consolidation of operations between the LV and CNJ north of Jim Thorpe, as far as right of way is concerned. That lasted until the CNJ pulled out of Pennsylvania at the end of March 1972.

I had to stop watching this—-it’s just too full of glib oversimplifications and bad history. The mispronunciations are a hoot: MOWK Chunk, Wilkes- BAR, MOOSEconetcong, REEDing—- give me a break! There are some nice visuals, though. Otherwise, forget it. Overall grade, D.

the N&W did want to Buy the Lehigh Valley. the El said no access through Bison yard to the Lehigh Valley on the east side of Bison yard by the time the EL railroad said yes in late 1975 the Lehigh Valley was to Far gone. the Ns does use Some of the Lehigh Valley
