We just wanted to say how completely blown away we are by the response to our first video. We never imagined so many people would join us on this journey so quickly, we've spent the last day reading your comments, messages and words of encouragement. A special thank you to everyone who has subscribed ☺️

We appreciate all of the feedback, we are learning a lot of new skills on this project and videography is one of them. A couple of quick points:

A lot of you noticed some lighting issues in parts of the video. At the moment we don't have mains power at the monastery, so filming has been a challenge! We're already working on a number of improvements and Episode 2 will look much better.

We know we're incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to restore this beautiful place and we plan to do so sympathetically and will be working with the Soprintendenza (a regional department of the Italian Ministry of Culture) to do so. We also appreciate that we are guests in Italy and take that responsibility seriously. We're all learning the language, our children will be attending the local school, and we want to become active members of the local community. We're committed to contributing positively to the area that we're lucky enough to now call home.

Thank you again for being here at the very beginning. We can't wait to share more of the monastery, its history, and the challenges ahead.

— Dominic & Madeleine

According to my YouTube timeline, half of the UK and America is now in Italy restoring a crumbling house.

Oh dear. Not another renovation channel I have to watch. Last count was over 20 channels. I think I have a problem.

You need to use the torch on your phone when you go around again we couldn’t see a lot of the property 😊

    This looks promising. Great intro.
First thing you must do is plant yourself a money tree. 😅

Please do something about the lighting. Promising start though, looking forward to the adventure.

Looks amazing, but you need to get some good people to check all the roofs asap.
I've seen lots of old abandoned country houses survive mostly unscathed for many many decades, only to turn into piles of rubble in a couple of years once the roofs finally start leaking badly.
Everything else can wait as long as you need

Welcome to Umbria! You and your wife have chosen a magnificent monastery and its surrounding land to restore.
I will definitely be following you.

❤ when people complain about, those young people today! I think about all the young people I have seen on YouTube who are renovating old properties. And I am very proud of them❤ I myself am a 70 year old teenager living in an old house, so I like to see the tips and tricks that are used to fix things❤😊 Sincerely Margaret Luhra Tivis Warren in Enid Oklahoma USA 😅❤

I see so many channels like this and I cannot fathom how people get so much money for these projects

If I was 20 years younger, I would be in there just like you.
