If you had mold in a jar, wash your jar with vinegar to make sure all the mold spores are killed. That will help what is store next not to go moldy. Great video.

Instead of buying the more expensive brown tinted mason jars and to help keep light out of my jars (I did this for coffee beans), I got the small brown lunch bags and trimmed them, and just taped them on the bottom and then had a twine that I wrapped around the top and labeled what it was on the outside. So it was a simple way to keep light out of my jars because I don’t have a dark pantry and I want it some way to make the environment inside the jar dark. It seems to work well.

I think it's great that you have your dehydrated foods "on display" because you're actually USING them. It's extra incentive, really. I can fudge on my pantry storage (cool, dark, in a dry climate), which also means that I am NOT using my dehydrated items as often as I should. Out of sight, out of mind. This is great motivation to be more conscious about using and rotating my stock. THANK YOU!!! 😄👍💖

I have a pantry along an outer wall at my house, and as a fellow Texan, I also have a warm pantry. I added extra foam board along the inside for extra insulation, and while it doesn't keep it quite as cool as the rest of the house, it dropped the temperature by a good 10-15 degrees.

Thank you Darcy for the knowledge you share with us. I find visuals (videos) help me so much more than reading it in a book. Food preservation has become very important to me in the last few years and even more so with our current environment of food shortages, high cost of protein, and my fear of going hungry. And lastly I appreciate you reminding us of our responsibility to not only take care of ourselves but our neighbors and those less fortunate. Blessings to you friend.
