<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA9XSWcCW30&t=185">3:05</a> this point is something i point to when i hear many people ask questions. " why did they not sense this whatever?" It is like when people say " why did Vader not sense leia was his daughter?!" He had no reason to be actively looking for something he had no way of knowing was a thing. Just like the Jedi had no reason to suspect the Sith was active in their midst because they would not passively be thinking about it like a dungeons and dragons adventure.

Prequel fans like to infantilize Anakin so hard. He made the decision to murder jedi children just as he made the decision to murder an entire tribe before the war even started.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: "I am concerned for my Padawan. He is not ready to be given this assignment on his own yet." <br>Yoda: "The Council is confident in its decision, Obi-Wan." <br>Mace Windu: "The boy has exceptional skills." <br>Obi-Wan Kenobi: "But he still has much to learn, Master. His abilities have made him... well, arrogant." <br>Yoda: "Yes, yes, a flaw more and more common among Jedi. Hmm. Too sure of themselves they are, even the older, more experienced ones."<br><br>Obi-Wan Kenobi: "Yes, Master, ... even the MOST experienced ones."

I think the key nuance when blaming the Jedi Order is recognizing that their failure wasn't just "arrogance," but a systemic institutional blind spot. They weren't foolish because they thought they were invincible, they were blinded by a millennium of peace that institutionalized stagnation. Palpatine didn't just defeat them tactically, he weaponized their own dogmatic adherence to tradition against them. Also spot-on regarding the Qui-Gon point. Obi-Wan was thrust into the impossible role of a brother and a teacher to The Chosen One before he had even finished grieving his own master. Anakin's tragedy may be his own choice, but the system surrounding him left him profoundly isolated.

The novelization of Revenge of The Sith puts it in perspective when Yoda goes to confront Sidious before their fight.

@<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA9XSWcCW30&t=230">3:50</a> Qui-Gon was also a more experienced Jedi and experienced teacher, whereas Obi-Wan was barely out of Padawan braid and in over his head. Anakin was a really tough case, and that needs someone with enough experience to adjust their approach.

TBH i believe both jedi and anakin mistakes worked with each other where plaptine used it and hence the downfall because first mistake council did was to reject anakin and only accepting him because of qui gon's death and his wish and also then not freeing his mother because saving one slave should not create problems and also the council not changing the methods of training for anakin because anakin is different and also then anakin's faults were his personality and his choice and plaptine used it together

Father figures- Interesting Thor. Reminding us of Obi-Wan’s line about telling Anakin he was his brother made me remember the scene in Attack of the Clones where those two were chasing Zam the Changling through the sky’s of Corasaunt and when the way chase her into the bar Anakin says “you are like a father to me” and it’s interesting how that actually highlights early how much Anakin was vulnerable and needed a father figure and how Obi-Wan didn’t pick up on that or did and couldn’t fulfill that role.<br><br>In fact it’s not the first time in that movie he expressed that. When he is ordered no to go to Geionoais and protect Padme, she decides to rescue Obi-Wan and tells Anakin and he says he was given strict instructions not to. Padme tries to convince him and he says “He’s like my father”

Palpatine was a master of emotional and psychological manipulation. Yoda was the exact opposite.
