Dr Lily went over 30+ different topics of great importance to all of us ( many things other doctors don't talk about) and today I learned and saw firsthand she really cares about her patients and their concerns ❤ - I encourage everyone to find doctors like this and keep searching until you do. This is how you improve the quality of your life and longevity as well. Yes the doctor you choose matters greatly.

Best, live Q&A I've heard on Youtube, even amongst a couple of different topics.

Your recent interview yesterday on the primal podcast was excellent! Extremely informative all the way around in keeping up with vascular health. I shared it with my own family members because we have history of CVD. Thank you Dr. Johnston for a wonderful job. ❤😊

Darn - I missed you. Sounds like you had excellent and well deserved audience participation. I strive per for perfect labs - the ONLY "yellow" was TMAO. I was 100% plant based, TMAO: 13, added fatty fish, TMAO stayed at 13, took high dose probiotics - TMAO didn't budge - went to Greece - decided to add back tzatziki (As I was in Greece) - got back - Cleveland blood Draw the next day - TMAO - 3 !! so - now I'm plant based + fatty fish + greek yogurt - have to follow the labs!!!;

My diet was based on the success I had with my diabetic dog who lived 11 years with the disease to almost 17 . Unheard of in diabetic dog circles . My family history for cvd is poor with an estimated all-cause mortality life span of about 62 . I have surpassed that by a few years . Ldl does seem to be the predominant marker in my family . My older brother went off his statin and was 90 percent blocked in the carotid artery in 2 locations in a few years . His procedure to get blood flow back to. An adequate level led to multiple strokes and died a year later at 73 . My 70 year old sister with natural ldl levels below 60 and her pipes are squeaky clean . I was able to get my ldl from 147 to 80 using my dogs diet . Yeah technically I eat dog food haha . It put many of my markers at optimal levels . As the doctor suggested it's a push pull with diet . One diet can't award you perfection on all levels but I am relatively close . You may have to sacrifice one thing for another in terms of priority as the doctor explained . It's almost a guarantee I have cvd . Testing would only quantify how much . I live my life according to that with a fairly extreme lifestyle to today's standards . quality of life is very good and that's my priority. If I got to 80 with good quality I might say my methods had success .

Just looking at the raw number of lives potentially savable for the VERVE-102 shot (the gene therapy PCSK9 inhibition) if it were universally taken for high-risk people is kind of mind blowing. You can do a quick envelope calculation that 40-50% of high-risk people stop taking their statins which leads to about a 2.5x risk of cardiovascular death, for those people this shot would largely save them. You can do some quick math and it would be about 80k people a year in the US (preventing about double that number of heart attacks and strokes) and about 800k more worldwide a year. Of course we want to make sure it's safe and does cause mass amounts of offsetting cancer, which is what is what the unusually large phase 3 trials will do, but for those high-risk individuals I don't think I agree that they should wait a decade to make sure there are no unanticipated long-term effects.
