We spend the first half of our lives accumulating things and the last half trying to get rid of it.

All of that clutter used to be money.
All of that money used to be time.
That hit me hard. Little by little I rid my home of non essentials. It's very freeing.

You mentioned library borrowing. Some libraries are starting to lend things you might only need from time to time, like sewing machines, tools, cake pans, etc. The idea is that you don't need to buy something you can borrow, and you don't need to clutter your space with something you only need infrequently.

One thing I liked about Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz is that the result didn’t pretend everything could be fixed with one simple habit. It seemed more focused on identifying patterns and showing why certain coping strategies might suit some people better than others.

My grandma’s motto: Use it up; wear it out; make do; or do without. That saying still runs through my head regularly.

“Landfill-core” hit me right in the gut—once you see clutter as exchanged life energy instead of ‘cute stuff,’ it’s impossible to unsee it.

It is amazing when you think you want to buy something, if you just wait a day or two, you find you don't even need it!

I tip people $50 every time. We rarely are in tipping situations, so when we are, I like to make someone's day. Generosity is its own reward.
